Robert Hayton May 2014 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends in Christ,
It’s harvest time in Zambia, and village farmers are moving throughout the area with oxcarts full of maize. Pastor Sianjomwa stated that this is the best harvest he has seen in three years. We plant the seed; God sends the sunshine and rain. We tend the fields, and God gives the increase.

Men carrying melonsIn mid May a soulwinning conference was held in Maala. Six preachers from the Toka Leya tribe came to help teach the church members there how to reach out with the gospel. The Maala congregation worked hard to extend hospitality and prepare for a crowd. The conference had just begun when word was received that Namaambo, a 29 year old mother of three, had passed away. The conference was halted as she was laid to rest. The village pastors preached the gospel at the funeral. The family was comforted with the knowledge that Namaambo had been saved last year. Many of the family were from the other side of the Kafue River, and several of them turned to Christ and spiritually bonded with the church family. Contact details were exchanged and another Romans 15:20 opportunity presented itself.

The chief was touched by the compassion shown by the preachers at this funeral, and he gave each of the them some pumpkins from his garden.

Men unloading truck full of BiblesOn a recent journey to the village of Mundundu, I watched folks carry hot coals on a large piece of tree bark and put it in the center of a log pile. The tree bark, ignited by the hot coals, became the catalyst for a roaring fire. We have been entrusted with the hot coals of the gospel of Christ. Thank you for your prayers and support; thank you for fanning the flame.

Speaking of harvest, we have just been resupplied with seed. The seven ton shipment of Bibles, scripture booklets, Bible dictionaries, English dictionaries, and commentaries has arrived! Thank you to all who labored so hard to make this a reality. Now please pray to the God of the harvest for wisdom, direction, protection, and increase as we plant the seed of the gospel of Christ.

Yours in Christ,

Robert Hayton

Training School 2014

Our annual missionary training school is just around the corner (June 16-20). We eagerly anticipate the attendance of eight new missionaries on their way to five different fields. We thank the Lord that other veteran missionaries along with several different professionals have partnered with us to make this an enriching week for everyone involved.

Thank you in advance for your prayers for this vital week.

Missionaries to East Africa

With regard to Pastor Abraham in South Sudan the situation is getting bad. Some of our people fled to one of the refugee camps on the border of Ethiopia, but not from Abraham’s tribe because he is from the Dinka Tribe. Those who are Nuer Tribe fled to our border. I am planning to go to the border to visit some of our Nuer friends.

I just spoke with Abraham this morning. We are in constant contact but most of time their network is so bad. They are in a very desperate situation. All of their village burned down. They get some aid from their government but not enough. I am sending Abraham some money when I get a way. He told me they have big problem to get enough food and clean water. Please continue praying for Abraham and his people and my visit to the border of South Sudan. I have some Nuer brothers.

New Missionary Families

We are pleased that God gave us two new missionary families this month. We welcome Kevin and JoAnn Trout, missionaries to the Philippines on the island of Mindanao. We also welcome Matt and Becky L., missionaries to a limited access nation in Asia. We praise the Lord for the opportunity to help these two fine families and their sending churches as they seek to fulfill the Great Commission.

We are currently praying for a new missionary family that would go to Botswana. There is a tremendous ministry opportunity there among the hearing and the Deaf. Would you pray with us?

Missionaries Return to South Africa with Blessings

Missionaries Chris and Lucinda Radebaugh

Picture of the new van.Chris and Lucinda returned to South Africa praising the Lord for His blessings. The first blessing was the state of the church in Johannesburg. Brother Chris Radebaugh wrote, “Matthews is a very good preacher and the other men have shown real leadership.” Mature national leadership is something a missionary strives for, often for many years. Furthermore, while the Radebaughs were on furlough they sought to raise funds for a new combi (van). God helped them find the perfect vehicle. Praise the Lord! “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Berhanu Yosef May 2014 Prayer Letter

God’s Work Continues in East Africa

Our work in Ethiopia is going very well by the grace of our Lord. We are doing very good in our Bible trainings in different locations. Right now we do have 10 centers. Our Bible trainings centers are creating spiritual maturity and good Christian fellowship. Praise the Lord the students are actively involved in their churches helping their pastors.

I thank the Lord about his provision through the Carpenter’s Project ministry. Brother John Conrad raised funds to build a church building for Langano Bethel Baptist Church. Last month we had a wonderful dedication program.

Photo of Pastor BerhanuGod has blessed us with many visitors from the US this year. Pastor Lou Schulz and Brother John Conrad from Faith Baptist in Palm Bay, FL visited us in February. We had a wonderful time with them. Our people were blessed by their teaching during their stay. They spoke to our Bible schools students and at our pastor’s conference. Truly they have been a great blessing for all of us. I myself was personally blessed and encouraged.

Please pray for these students that want to finish the 3 year program – Gerum Dejene, Zenebe Moges, and Ane. Gerum Dejene and Zenebe Moges come from the northern part of our ministry in Ethiopia that is dominated by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. These churches are so rigid. These two brothers got saved in a very special way by the work of the Holy Spirit. They have amazing separation out of that darkness to follow the Lord out of these religious communities. They have been rejected by their families and communities. I thank the Lord about his wonderful work in these brother’s lives. They have become a great blessing to all of us, especially to our Bible school. I am looking forward to see the day they will be sent to mission field.

The other student is Ane. He is an Ethiopian Jew. the Ethiopian Jews are treated by our people very bad. They are a people marginalized by all tribes. Ane and his people are nearly 50 families. Last year one of the Ethiopian Jewish men and a girl from another tribe agreed to marry. Because of this all of the community came out and burned down their 50 homes; therefore, all 50 families had to leave their village to a very remote area and live a meager life. I am glad that one of our churches in the southern part of Ethiopia accepted him and his family as their true brother and have sent him to our school. In spite of all of this Ane loves the Lord and wants to live the Christian life, but it is not easy.

With regard to Pastor Abraham in South Sudan the situation is geting bad. Some of our people fled to one of the refugee camps on the border of Ethiopia, but not from Abraham’s tribe because he is from the Dinka Tribe. Those who are Nuer Tribe fled to our border.
