Belorussian Missionaries serving in Nigeria

Since the beginning of this year the main focus of our ministry has been shifted to the deaf ministries. I now spend more time with the deaf brethren than with the hearing ones. Though we are still living in Lagos, I have to drive to and from Abeokuta three times a week.

We had our first couple’s day for the deaf church at Abeokuta on the 14th of February. There were 18 people from our hearing church in Lagos that traveled down to Abeokuta for the special service. In total there were 90 people in attendance. The deaf brethren were so excited, and most invited other deaf couples that are not members of the church. We have two deaf women that are married to deaf Muslims. They are happy that their husbands were able to come for the special service. It was a new experience for the deaf brethren. The folks from Lagos, were happy that they could be such a great blessings to the deaf brethren.

We praise the Lord for the opportunity to be a part of Pensacola Christian College Campus Church’s bi-annual missions conference. We were blessed with the opportunity to teach, participate in Mission Prayer Band and engage many students all through the week. We hope that we were as big a blessing as they were to us.

Our annual BIO Training School has been scheduled for June 28-30. This school will have a special emphasis toward the Deaf. Pastor Bruce Kelly and Richard McMillen will be our special guests. Brother Kelly is the pastor of Deaf Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA. Richard McMillen is a former CPA and the founder of Pulpit & Pew Finances.

Missionaries to the Far East

AsiaGod’s mercies truly are abundant in our lives although we tend to overlook them. We are so thankful for His goodness to us and His love for us every day. In these last few months, God has provided new supporters and new prayer warriors in our ministry. We have also been able to book five missions conferences in the next few months, which we are extremely excited to serve in. Please pray for our travels and pray that we would be able to be a blessing to those God allows us to come in contact with.

We thank you for all of your prayers and would like to request a few more. We are planning to leave for the field in June and, with only about three months left, we have much to do. Please pray as we will be starting the process for Audrey’s passport and applying for visas. Also, we are looking at plane tickets and are praying for reasonably priced ones which also will not be too long in layover times. The school also needs another teacher for next school year. Please pray that God will send us the right one for the ministry.

News From Chris & Lucinda Radebaugh

Missionaries to the Deaf in South Africa

In the Old Testament, Job asked the question, “How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?” It seems this question has been asked by people throughout history, evidenced by the multitude of religions that attempt to provide some remedy for the problem this question identifies. Not far from where we live is the largest Muslim mosque in the southern hemisphere. The Nizamiye Masjid can accommodate up to 6,000 men and women, with a school, market, clinic, and a planned university in Islamic studies. We encounter Muslims on a day to day basis and pray for their salvation. Islam is one of the religions that has tried to answer Job’s question. The Five Pillars of Islam are designed so that a Muslim can try to provide their god with enough good works with the hope that he will be compelled to save them.

One of the young ladies in the Deaf church has a Muslim boyfriend. She brought him to some of our special events and he was quick to let everyone know, “I am Muslim!” That didn’t stop our people from showing him love and encouragement. Evidently, this had an effect on him because he came with her to church a few times. And, our people continued to show him love and encouragement. He asked to talk and we had the opportunity to give a clear presentation of the Gospel. He didn’t come to Christ, but he is interested.

SMART Construction Training Opportunity

image of ministry logoThe idea behind SMART is to help missionaries gain a variety of practical skills that will help them endure some of the difficulties they might encounter while serving on a foreign field. Our usual approach is to conduct classroom training modules. Right now, however, there is a unique opportunity to learn some basic construction skills hands-on instead of just classroom training.

The Heritage Baptist Church, a young church in Mountain View, Arkansas, has purchased an older church building. The auditorium is in need of repairs and general remodeling. The SMART ministry sees this as a two-fold opportunity. First is the opportunity to be a blessing to a young church by helping work on their building. The second opportunity is that those who would like to join us can get some hands-on experience in general remodeling. This could prove to be especially beneficial for missionaries who would like to increase their knowledge of construction processes before heading to their field of service.

Men (especially missionaries) and their teenage sons who would like some on-the-job training in basic construction trades are welcome to participate. There are various indoor projects involving general carpentry, basic electrical, plumbing repairs, drywall hanging and finishing, installing floor tile.

Heritage Baptist Church is located in Mountain View, Arkansas, which is approximately 2.5 hours north of Little Rock. Please plan on joining us March 3-11, 2016. Contact Terry Childers for more details.

News From James & Karen Howard

Missionaries to Canada

Proclaiming Christ for Canada is far more than a catchy phrase we use to speak of our ministry. It may be found on our letterhead, prayer cards, and even on our website — ChristforCanada.org, but it also tells of our purpose and calling. It has always remained consistent.

In December, our family alone took the message of Christ to over 700 homes. We would love always to see kindness (a particular case of extreme anger won’t soon be forgotten) and of course more results, but in reception or rejection our representation is always of Christ.

People have a variety of unique hardships, but needs of people are basic everywhere at their core — spiritual, emotional, or physical. Our conviction is Christ alone is the answer for each issue of life. We can not promise healing or removal of suffering and turmoil, but our desire is to show the love of God found in Jesus Christ and hopefully bear a part of their burden along the way. In all areas, we desire souls to be saved and existing Christians to be able to glorify God in their life. PRAY FOR US!

Happy New Year!

We wish you a very blessed new year. Thank you for the opportunity to labor together with you. Recently at our interoffice prayer and planning meeting we reviewed all of the ministries and missionaries that are associated with BIO. We praise the Lord that currently we serve 57 missionary families. This works out to 107 missionaries ministering in 23 different countries. We praise the Lord for this. We are praying that the Lord would lead three more families to associate themselves with BIO in 2016. Currently we need missionaries in Botswana, China, and in Zambia. Thank you for praying with us.

The Lord is doing marvelous things in the country of Ethiopia. Berhanu Yoseph is being used of the Lord in a mighty way. Hundreds of national workers are being trained while indigenous churches are being awakened to participate in a church planting movement throughout East Africa. Most East African countries are predominately Muslim and resistant to the Gospel.

Berhanu and Wubit will be in the States from February through May of this year. They still have some open dates in their schedule. If you would like them to present their ministry in your church please contact John Yingling at the BIO office.

Deaf Missionaries to the Deaf of Ethiopia

Thank you very much for your daily prayer for the Gospel ministry among the Deaf. Because of your support and prayers the Deaf are able to hear the living Word of God and souls are saved. God bless you. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

I am asking you to pray for the rented house we use for our Bible studies and worship. We have been trying to
find another house for our worshiping place but it is hard to find. The owners of houses were not willing to rent a house for believers. But we are still praying over the needs every day. Now the landlord at the house we are using for our Gospel work is asking us to pay him 7,500 Birr (about $350 USD) every month to continue to use the house. We ask you to pray for the money for the payment.

We are always thankful to God for His great love to His children. The ministry in Nazareth and Wonji towns are going well. Praise to His mighty name. Praise the Lord that Dr. Garvin and Mrs. Faye Dykes had a great time here in Ethiopia. I thank God for letting them come and spend time with us and that they were a blessing to us also. May God bless them more.

christmasMerry Christmas!

The meaning and purpose of Christmas is found in the voice of the angel of the Lord in Luke 2, “…Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Christmas is the Gospel (i.e., the good news) to all people. We celebrate a Savior that was born in the fulness of time, a Messiah that was born to die for the sins of the world, and a Lord that was born to rise victorious over death and the grave.

We as believers are all in the business of taking this Good News to all people. Thank you for your partnership with us. We wish you a very Merry Christmas!

At the end of the angel’s announcement to the Shepherds a great multitude of angels declared, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” This, of course, is everything that you and I are about – The glory of God and the good will of God to all men. 1 Timothy 2:3-4, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

Faithfulness to the Lord

Missionaries Richard and Florence Abney

We appreciate the ministry of Richard and Florence Abney and their association with BIO. The Abneys have spent many fruitful years of ministry overseas on the mission field and here in the United States. They have been faithful through hard trials and also while enjoying the wonderful blessings of our Lord. In November they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Now, in the wisdom years of their lives, the Abneys are involved in evangelism, missionary relief and pulpit supply. I would like to encourage you to prayerfully consider this godly couple for any special ministry needs that you may have.

This letter was written by BIO missionary Bizuayehu Assefa

Deaf Pastor in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Dear Friends,
Calvary greetings to you and to all your dear family and friends in the most holy name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Hoping that you all are doing fine. Praise to His name.

Thank you very much for your daily prayer for the Gospel ministry among the Deaf. Because of your support and prayers the Deaf are able to hear the living Word of God and souls are saved. God bless you. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

BIO President Garvin Dykes and his wife recently visited with Bizuayehu Assefa and family.

Dear brethren, on January 3, 2016, we will have a special Christmas celebration program all day. The Deaf from Nazareth and Wonji town and from surrounding areas of Addis Ababa will come and participate in the meeting. We will have a special spiritual program on that day. Please pray for more new souls to come and to know the Lord Jesus Christ who came to the world in order to save us from all our sins and to give life.

Pray for our needs for the expenses of this special program.

Pray also for our country Ethiopia. As you may have heard there is no peace in some regions and universities. There is also a famine in some areas. May God visit us all.

Thank you all for your prayers and every concern you have for us all and for the ministry as we are serving our loving Master and Lord.
May God Bless you all.

Wishing you a very blessed Christmas season.

Sincerely, yours in Christ,

Pastor Bizuayehu Assefa
