Missionary to Ethiopia
Matthew 9:38 Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into His harvest.
Missionary Nader Baraty joined BIO in November of 2013. He is preparing to serve the Lord in Ethiopia and is sent from Calvary Baptist Church of Ashland, Ohio.
Call to the Field
The Lord called Bro. Baraty to the field of missions during a mission conference at his sending church in October 2011. The guest speaker, Dr. Al Stone, preached on the fruits of the harvest. That message convicted Nader’s heart for the lost and the forsaken in distant lands. Not long after he spent time at a missions conference held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee where the Lord revealed to him that foreign missions is where God wanted him to serve.
Following that in just a couple more months, that vision became more of a reality when he met Pastor Berhanu Yoseph, a national pastor and BIO missionary from Ethiopia. Bro. Berhanu preached at the church and expressed a need for laborers in the country of Ethiopia. It was then that Bro. Baraty began to pray for the Lord’s will for his life. Because Dr. Richard Vick’s granddaughter attends his sending church, she put the two in contact with one another. Dr. Vick, who has become a mentor to Bro. Nader, shared his love for the people of Ethiopia and, together, Dr. Vick and Bro. Baraty visited to country of Ethiopia. God’s call was reaffirmed in Bro. Baraty on that trip.
Short Term Vision
Lord willing, Nader will arrive in the field of Ethiopia in the summer of 2015. Upon arrival to the country he will begin training under the leadership of Pastor Berhanu. He will be aiding and ministering in church planting efforts, the Bible institute, and the deaf ministry. He will also study the national language of Amharic during the first year on the field to be able to relate and minister on a more personal way with the Ethiopian people.
Long Term Vision
Bro. Baraty prays that Outreach East Africa will reach the world with the Gospel. Upon training and gaining the necessary experience, he will embark on his own church-planting efforts. He will plant churches in other strategic areas and harvest the laborers needed in soul-winning, disciple-making, church-planting, and leader training. He prays that, as people are saved and churches established, the Lord will provide newer opportunities of sending the Gospel to the uttermost. He desires to see the Gospel sent to areas in the Middle East and for the Lord to send him to share the Gospel with his own family.
